Safety

Safety

Skandineer exists so you can meet new people abroad. That should feel safe. Here is what applies in the app, and what you can do yourself.

Adults only

You must be 18 or older. Your age is checked when you create the account, and younger people cannot sign up.

Area, never position

The map shows which area you are in, never where you stand. You choose when you are visible, and we keep no location history.

Report and block

In every profile and every chat you can report or block a person. Someone you block cannot see you or contact you. Reports come to us and are reviewed by a person.

How we moderate

Public areas, such as group names and the forum, are checked automatically against lists of hate speech and abusive language. Content reported by several independent people is hidden pending review.

Warnings and suspensions are always decided by a person, never automatically. Anyone suspended gets a reason and can appeal.

Your messages are private

We do not read your private messages, and no automatic filter does either. Only if someone in the conversation reports a message can a moderator read what was reported.

When you meet someone new

A few tips that apply whatever app you use:

  • Meet in a public place the first time, ideally in a group.
  • Tell someone where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Arrange your own way there and back.
  • Trust your gut. If something feels off you can always leave, block and report.
